NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Police are looking for a man a homeowner said has stolen $1,500 worth of lawn care equipment in North Nashville.

The video shows a man walk up to a home in the neighborhood.

“He walked around this way, looked in our window to see if we were awake, we obviously weren’t, so he walked right around here,” Mason Earls explained while walking to the side of his home.

Earls’ surveillance camera caught the moment before he said the man jumped over his back fence and grabbed whatever he could.

“Our weed eater, our blower, I guess he dropped a rope of something before he hopped the fence,” Earls said. “I got clips of him with all of that stuff walking off.”

In the video, off in the distance, a man can be seen walking away with Earls’ weed eater. Then again, in a blurry surveillance camera picture, a man can be seen pushing his lawn mower down the street.

When Earls woke up that Monday morning and looked over his fence, he saw more than $1,500 of lawn equipment gone.

“I was pretty upset,” Earls said. “We found a police officer in the area, filed a police report, and then sent them all the evidence.”

When he turned to the Ring app to warn his neighbors, some had already been hit.

“There’s been multiple posts of break-ins and I don’t know if it’s the same guy, but this guy is definitely out looking to find stuff,” Earls said.

Metro Nashville Police said this is the time of year where it normally sees an uptick in things like this.

“Pretty upsetting. I’d like to get it back, but I don’t think we will,” Earl said.

While police work to track down this man, they’re also reminding people that they can now report things like stolen lawn equipment on the Metro Nashville Police website.
