NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The WSMV4 Surprise Squad is back and this time, anchor Holly Thompson visited a local elementary school to honor Ms. P.

At Paragon Mills Elementary School, students describe Ms. P as, caring, nice and giving to others. They also said she helps them read, ensures they finish their homework and eats lunch, breakfast and snacks after school.

Iashanoma Wiggins, better known as Ms. P, serves many roles at Paragon Mills but leads the way as its cafeteria manager. She runs a tight ship and consistently has her cafeteria scoring a 100 with the health department.

Ms. P ensures that nearly 600 students are all fed breakfast and a hot lunch. Afterward, she and her team prepare another 100 hot after-school meals in addition to prepping food for Saturday school.

Paragon Mills Executive Principal Andy Lyons said Ms. P is a bundle of joy.

“She definitely goes above and beyond. She’s here by 6 a.m. every day. She leaves at 5:30-6 in the evening, so she has long days.”

Once the bell rings, Ms. P continues working and helps with the Leaps Learning Program.

“She works after school to help them with their homework, extra math practice, and then, of course, play games with them,” assistant principal Dr. Brit Sikes said.

That’s why WSMV4′s Surprise Squad and Bart Durham Injury Law presented Ms. P with a check for $2,000.

“Oh, thank you, thank you all,” Ms. P said. “Y’all got me, y’all got me! Thank y’all, I appreciate it, thank you.”
