NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Pearl-Cohn improved to 4-0 on the season with a 41-14 victory over PURE Academy on Friday night.

The Firebirds were playing their first home game of the season on their new artificial turf field. Pearl-Cohn is the first of 13 Metro high school football teams getting new fields as part of a $15 million project from Mayor John Cooper, Metro Nashville Government and the Tennessee Titans.

Beech played its first game at home and picked up a Region 7-5A victory over Portland.

The Buccaneers were forced to play its home opener at White House in Week 1 after the visitor bleachers collapsed and the home bleachers were deemed structurally unsound.

Temporary bleachers were installed this week allowing the Bucs (2-2) to play at home.

The Irish (3-0) remain unbeaten after a big win over Brentwood Academy (1-3) in a non-region game.

Green Hill improved to 4-0 with a victory over visiting Wilson Central (3-1) in the Region 4-6A opener for both teams.
