Predators avoid elimination, rally to beat Vancouver 2-1 in Game 5

A big go-ahead score by Alexandre Carrier in the third period would hold for the Preds, sending the series back to Nashville.

VANCOUVER, Ca. (WSMV) - How gutsy can they be? Facing a season-ending loss, the Nashville Predators score two goals in the 3rd period of Game 5 of their Stanley Cup Playoff game against Vancouver to win 2-1 and force a Game 6 back in Nashville on Friday.

After the Canucks took a 1-0 lead in Game 5 on a Nikita Zadorov 3rd-period goal, Predators Captain Roman Josi countered with a power play goal with 12:45 to play. The Preds’ power play has been largely ineffective all series (the team is now 2-19 on the PP).

Then, Alexandre Carrier scored the biggest goal of his life. Carrier’s first goal of the playoffs came with under seven minutes to play, and the Preds hung on from there.

Nashville goalie Juuse Saros stopped 19 of 20 shots as Nashville held off a Canucks attempt to tie with the man advantage.

Game time for Game 6 on Friday at Bridgestone Arena has yet to be announced.
