NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Tennessee father is counting his blessings after his teenage daughter survived a car accident that ended with the vehicle totaled after striking a guard rail.

On March 24, Kevin Mullins’ daughter was driving down a Gibson County road, when she allegedly got distracted and hit a guardrail, causing the vehicle to flip, while the rail came crashing through the windshield.

“She just started screaming, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it’s bad,” Mullins recalled.

He would end up meeting his daughter at the crash site where he reportedly found her in the middle of the road. Despite the damage to the vehicle, the 17-year-old managed to climb through a back window to safety and was unharmed.

“When you look at that, that was just the first thing that came to mind was what an awesome God we serve that he allowed my daughter to come through that,” Mullins said.

It’s an outcome that inspired Mullins to make a video about it on Facebook where it has been viewed more than 13 million times.

Mullins, who also is a pastor, believes that faith played a major role in the outcome of the crash which he expressed in the now-viral video.

“My god is amazing, he is amazing,” he said. “She just has a little bit of scratches on her feet but that’s all. I serve an amazing God, if you don’t believe in him this morning, you can look at this.”

Mullins says he has only preached to a few hundred people max and never expected his post to be widely shared but understands why it’s happening.

“This was a two-minute video filmed by a desperate father,” he said. “We’re looking for something in this world to hang on to, we’re looking for hope and I think when people see that they get a glimpse of something that they want.”

As Mullins’ daughter now works her way back to driving again, his family continues to lean on their faith after this near-death accident.

“If she had not survived the wreck, he’s still God. If you got them here, tell them you love them,” he pleaded.

WSMV4 reached out to the Tennessee Highway Patrol for additional information but has not heard back as of Tuesday evening.
