NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A First Alert Weather Day has now been issued for Friday with a new threat of strong to severe storms across the Mid State.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY

Looking ahead to the end of the week another strong frontal system is expected to pass through the Mid State. More scattered showers and storms are expected to fire up as early as Friday morning and last through our afternoon. Some storms could be strong to severe at times and as of now, the overall severe threat is low (1/5 on the threat scale).

TODAY

Keep the umbrella handy this afternoon with a few lingering showers expected across parts of the Mid State. No downpours, no severe weather threat, just some hit-or-miss rain. The day will be cloudy otherwise with highs in the mid-70s.

TOMORROW

Thursday is still shaping up to be the best day of the week by far with more sunshine in the afternoon and high temperatures pushing back into the lower to mid-80s for the day.

FRIDAY

Showers and storms return on Friday across the Mid State. As mentioned above, we are under a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY due to the risk of strong to severe storms during the day. Stay weather-ready. Highs on Friday will fall back into the 70s.

THIS WEEKEND

A few showers will linger into the first part of Saturday, but we will try and work on some sunshine Saturday afternoon.

Highs Saturday will try and push back near 80 again.

Sunday, our weather will finally begin to dry out. I can’t totally rule out an isolated shower, but Sunday looks partly sunny and much warmer. The high should be around 85.

NEXT WEEK

Partly cloudy and even hotter weather is on the way for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.
