SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WSMV) - Spring Hill High School students were given an early start to their weekend on Friday after officials decided to cancel classes early Friday morning.

In a message sent out to parents and posted online, Maury County Public Schools announced the high school would be closed on Friday and students were not to report to the facility. The reason for the last-minute decision was due to an overnight vandalism that occurred at the school, according to the district’s communications director.

The extent of the damage to the school is unknown but it was enough to keep students away from campus on Friday.

All faculty and staff were still reporting for work and all after-school activities were still on schedule at the high school.
