NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man is charged with attempted kidnapping after police said he grabbed a woman and tried to push her into a single-stall bathroom at a dessert and coffee shop in the Gulch on May 16.

The alleged attack happened at The Nashville Sundae Club, according to an affidavit.

The victim said she was walking to the bathroom when the suspect, 23-year-old Nelson Yovani Ortiz-Ramirez, grabbed her buttocks and then started pushing her into the bathroom, a police report stated.

The woman said she was afraid Ramirez would try to lock them both in the bathroom and rape her, according to an affidavit.

She kicked and pushed him away, locked herself in the bathroom, and then called her boyfriend, police said.

The boyfriend captured pictures before Ramirez ran off, which is how police were able to find him and make the arrest, the affidavit states.

Ramirez was booked on eight charges Thursday night, including attempted kidnapping, sexual battery, public intoxication, and evading arrest. He remains in custody on a $16,700 bond and is on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
