Injection Questions: Ozempic, Wegovy and generic Semaglutide are incredibly popular medications that promise – and deliver – life-changing weight loss. The medication is so popular, the pharmaceutical companies can’t manufacture it fast enough to meet demand. We investigate reports to the government about adverse reactions and talk to one patient who believes the medication caused suicidal thoughts and actions.

ADHD Diagnoses Increase: A nationwide shortage of ADHD medication has been limiting the supply of Adderall since October 2022. While the shortage’s primary culprit was believed to be supply chain issues, a new study reveals another cause – an increase in diagnoses among women, with the number of women being diagnosed nearly doubling in the last few years. Rachel Polansky spoke with a doctor who believes telehealth during the pandemic played a large part.

Firefighter Cardiac Deaths: Firefighting is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. The job isn’t just risky because of the burning buildings either. The National Fire Protection Association says the number one killer of on-duty firefighters is sudden cardiac events like heart attacks. Some experts say these deaths are sometimes preventable. Pilot Mental Health: Commercial pilots must obtain a medical certificate that covers both their mental and physical health. Without that certificate, they can’t do their jobs. But a recent case involving an off-duty pilot who allegedly tried to shut down a plane mid-flight has raised concerns that some pilots may avoid reporting any problems with their mental health out of fear of being grounded. Ezra Kaplan in Portland dug into court records related to the case and spoke with medical professionals about the issue.
