Mom accused of posting 5-year-old waxing nude adults has case sent to grand jury

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The case against a Memphis mother accused of having her young daughter wax nude adults at her small business has been sent to a grand jury.

Court records show that Shelby County Judge Karen Massey held the case to state after 30-year-old Jasmine Moss’ court appearance Wednesday morning.

The pending indictment comes after a social media post that was published in mid-February.

The post, containing three images, was uploaded to the Instagram account Moss used to promote her hair removal service “Jazzy Body LLC.” The disturbing images showed Moss’ five-year-old daughter applying hot wax to the nude pubic areas of adults.

Moss identified the girl as her daughter in the post, which also boasted that the child waxed 24 clients for more than eight hours. The caption, which was sent to Action News 5 before the post’s deletion, read:

“She literally helped me wax 24 clients starting from 7:25-5pm. She made a total of $744 and I’m going to put the money toward whatever her future dreams and aspirations are.”

The post sparked so much attention that Memphis police launched a joint investigation with the Department of Children Services.

“In Tennessee, you have to be at least 16 years old to actually get hours to obtain a license to become an esthetician,” a licensed esthetician from Bartlett told Action News 5 after Moss’ arrest.

The Better Business Bureau also said they had no record of the company until a complaint came on February 15.

“Child abuse and neglect usually requires some sort of physical harm or physical injury, and it remains to be seen if they can prove something like that,” said Moss’ attorney Blake Ballin after a court appearance in late February.

Moss is currently charged with child neglect.
